The Louvre Museum (“Le Musée du Louvre” in French), one of the most famous and largest museums in the world, was originally designed as a royal palace. Therefore, its gracefully decorated interior is not a surprise – long corridors, richly decorated walls, and ceilings.
The museum is divided by stylistic periods, and while walking, you’ll be close to numerous masterpieces of fine art. You might even uncover the secret of Mona Lisa’s smile. Of a later date, but almost equally famous, is the glass pyramid at the entrance to the museum, about 20 meters high, designed by Chinese-American architect Ieoh Ming Pei, known by his initials I. M. Pei.
