While autumn brings a touch of romance to our surroundings, furniture reminiscent of the Shabby Elegance style brings a romantic feeling to the interior design. The classic lines of furniture make it sophisticated, and the white color gives it lightness.
What Is Shabby Elegance Style in Interior Design
The term Shabby Elegance originally referred to the old furniture that was repainted to look refreshed. Nowadays, Shabby Elegance furniture, available in shops, is mostly new furniture – skillfully designed to appear vintage. In this way, furniture gets a historical story, and the interior is reminiscent of the grandeur of the aristocracy. Similar styles are, in their “variations on the theme,” associated with the areas of France, the United Kingdom, Sweden, and the United States.
White Furniture with Stylized Floral Ornaments
Tables and chairs, benches, sofas, cabinets, and chests of drawers, despite the wealth of ornaments, appear lighter thanks to their colors. A large piece of furniture in any darker color would overwhelmingly dominate the space; however, the white color makes it look so much lighter.
The stylized floral ornaments are prevalent among decorative elements present on the furniture.
Classical Design Elements
Among other classical elements, lyres and vases should be noted. Ancient Greek and Roman aesthetics were visible at every step throughout historical styles.
Forms and ornaments of the furniture, from the Renaissance to Biedermeier, followed the lines of ancient art.
Color Accents and Floral Decor
In this interior design scheme, white furniture is accented by the cheerful colors of accessories – red, yellow, pink, gold, silver. Among decorative fabrics, there are cotton, lace, brocade, velvet, damask. Floral patterns are present all over this romantic style.
Elegant dishes and tablecloths are also an essential addition to this floral decorating scheme, and “the icing on the cake” are vases filled with roses, orchids, and other floral beauties. All these elements are the creators of the romantic atmosphere in the room.
Mixing Classic and Contemporary Style Designs
Cups and saucers in white and gold color scheme, contemporary-designed glass candle holders, and vases complement this attractive interior design style. A large crystal chandelier looks spectacular, especially in the evening while bathed in rays of light.
Since mixing classic and contemporary design is one of the interior design trends – furniture of the historical character is often combined with contemporary-style carpets, curtains, and decorative accessories.
All in all, romance is trendy, in interior design and life in general.
