Heading north from Ao Nang – Krabi’s center of entertainment and nightlife you will find a little secluded Klong Muang – a place where time has stopped, where people still live traditionally, slowly, and are willing to talk for hours with no pressure at all. No matter some luxury hotels which find their home here, local people still don’t feel over touristy.
We stayed in Beyond Resort Krabi which is a 45-minute drive away from Krabi Airport in southern Thailand. Private, luxurious, and truly beach resort. It offers everything for a quality leisure holiday, and there is no real reason to go outside the hotel, only if you are in search of some adventure or tradition.
It is perfect for people who want a quiet, luxury break or an escape from the usual holiday crowd. It’s great for families and also honeymooners. From here you can still easily explore the islands and inland of the Krabi region.
The beautifully designed hotel is a part of Phuket’s well-known Kata Group that is celebrating 36 years and offers accommodations in a small hotel block that is surrounded by more individual villas. It enjoys a prime spot overlooking an excellent part of Klong Muang Beach; 80 meters of excellent beachfront with a nice locally owned beach bar and beach massage.

Lobby with a View
It’s a stunning four-star hotel that’s been open since July 2012, so it’s still very new. There are 170 rooms, including cute bungalows and really impressive suites. Rates start at 120€ per night during the main season.
From your first step into the hotel, you will be amazed by a great view, as the lobby of the hotel is on the 5th floor; it gives you the opportunity to enjoy a great panorama of the Andaman Sea and a beautiful infinity pool with lush greenery all around it.
There is a colorful lounge next to the lobby where you can enjoy your drink with a breathtaking view. The hotel restaurant is next to the beach and pool, serving Thai and international cuisines, a buffet breakfast with lots of choices. When you step out of the hotel you will find yourself on the main street that is still very simple, and village-like with small houses and people living a true traditional life. Here you can still feel like time had stopped and worries have left to some other places.
Infinity Pool Overlooking the Little Island and Private Beach
What’s really amazing is that the infinity pool is just next to the beach, it is divided into two parts, one large part suitable for babies and smaller kids, and another where you can have a nice swim. In the pool that is surrounded by beautiful tropical greenery and flowers, you can enjoy the few whirlpools which make the day near the pool even nicer.
A nice stretch of the beach with soft and whiter sand than in Ao Nang is at the front. Here you will also see some boats and skippers which can take you to other small islands. A great part of the view is a small island 200-300 meters away from the beach, you can walk to it and take an adventure at low tide, but you need to be careful and avoid the shells on the rocks.
The Unique Uphill Rooms and Villas
Beyond Resort Krabi has 170 rooms which are divided into six types, ranging from 300 to 700 square feet. Rooms are designed in modern Thai style, they are clean and comfortable, and all of the rooms have a balcony where most of them have a sea view. There are garden villas and pool villas. One villa has 2 units, one is on the upper level, and another one is on the lower level, each with a separate entrance.
The villas are hexagonal by design, it is very unique. We stayed in a garden villa with a spacious terrace and lush greenery of its gardens. Having been here and not overlooking the sea gave us the opportunity to enjoy a true tropical garden feeling just a step away from the pool and sandy beach. It is a great place for kids as they can find lots of places to play hide and seek and to enjoy in the garden while you relax on the terrace. Villa Garden View Room has 48 sqm and is inspired by the honeycomb of bees with a spacious bathroom that reminds of a cave.
Besides villa garden rooms you can choose between a Cottage garden room – a cozy cottage that will delight couples looking for value, offering stylish design and surrounded by mature tropical gardens and flowers. Deluxe Sea View Room – all rooms reveal spectacular sea and pool views and are furnished with modern facilities, deluxe amenities, and showcase contemporary design. Villa Sea View Room – offers a private terrace or balcony set amidst tropical greenery, offering spectacular sea views.
Each Villa comprises two units with separate, private entrances, and Villa Pamukale is a private and spacious pool villa set steps away from the beach, featuring spectacular views over two limestones, a private plunge pool, and stylish furniture.
A Hotel Is a Place for Itself
Here you can enjoy a modern indoor-outdoor all-day dining outlet at Beyond Café offering a variety of special dishes from the Far East and the Western world, relax in @Beach Bar & Restaurant, spend more relaxation in Kanda Spa Kata Group’s signature spa which offers a fusion of eastern and western treatments and services which can be enjoyed in two large and luxurious treatment rooms or stay active during the holidays in Beyond Fitness Centre Fitted out with state-of-the-art equipment.
For business needs, it offers Meeting packages available depending on the duration and numbers expected at your next meeting. A highlight is Beyond Krabi’s Business on the Beach; barefoot boardroom options and state-of-the-art meeting technology, full light, and sound system. It is not the kind of a place where you will truly want to work but if that’s the goal of your travel then Beyond hotel can be the right choice as it is a peaceful and relaxing place to think of. Just to mention that Wi-Fi is great and working perfectly all around the resort.
Beachfront Wedding
Beyond hotel offers Thai and Western wedding packages with an absolute beachfront location and luxurious touches to make your Big Day unforgettable. Packages include a bouquet for the bride and corsage for the groom, flower tray for wedding rings, MC for the personalized ceremony, two-tier wedding cake and photographer service plus an album of 100 images, and a wedding certificate as standard.
