The 7th consecutive International Tourism Fair PLACE2GO has hosted 186 exhibitors from 21 countries in Arena Zagreb, Croatia, from the 16th to 18th of March 2018. Since new destinations are introduced every year, this year, the representatives of Ivory Coast, Seychelles, and Tanzania promoted their travel destinations for the first time at PLACE2GO.
During the three days, the fair welcomed 16,300 visitors, which made the organizers very happy taking the weather conditions into consideration (sudden cold front, heavy rain, and some snow).
This year’s fair was held under the auspices of the President of Croatia, Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic, the Ministry of Tourism, the City of Zagreb, and the Zagreb Tourist Board, the Board of Commerce, and the Croatian Chamber of Crafts. Turkish Airlines has been the general sponsor for the fifth year in a row. Other sponsors that have supported this year’s PLACE2GO fair are SIXT (official rent-a-car), Jadransko osiguranje (official insurance company), m-Start (digital support), HT (sponsor of the business lounge), and CineStar, NOX, Megaprint, Perinic sistemi, HZPP, and B1 plakati as organization partners.
Travel and Hospitality – B2B Meetings and Panels
B2B meetings were held on the first day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the fair was closed to the general public. All exhibitors and business partners used the PLACE2GO application, available for ios and android, for arranging their meetings. Three panels took place: Smart Cities and Innovative Technological Solutions in Tourism, Back to School – Importance of Higher Education in Tourism, and Greetings from Croatia – Cultural Heritage as Tourist Product.
Visitors from Croatia and Neighboring Countries
Saturday and Sunday were intended for the general public. Visitors from both Croatia and its neighboring countries such as Slovenia, Serbia, Bosnia, and Herzegovina, Italy, Austria, and Hungary, visited the fair. The entrance was free for everyone, which has certainly attracted a greater number of travelers.
Famous bloggers and travelers shared their experiences on Saturday and Sunday as well, and the biggest audience gathered at lectures given by Goran Milic, Putoholicari, Goran Jovic, Remi, Sasa Pjanic, Vlado Sestan, Djurdja Vidovic, Damir Zurub… Destinations such as the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, Seychelles, Germany, Zanzibar, Latin America, India, Route 66 (USA)… were introduced to the visitors, as well as numerous topics, such as: how to travel cheap, traveling with children, humanitarian travels, business travels, different cultures, honeymoons…
