For the sixth year running, Pedrali, Italian outdoor furniture company, has been partner of the Landscape Festival – I Maestri del Paesaggio, the international outdoor design festival, now at the ninth edition, organized by Arketipos along with the town council of Bergamo, Italy, dedicated to the landscape which attracts the best designers and the most interesting expressions of the international landscaping. From 5th to 22nd September, this Italian city was at the heart of the landscaping culture and the jewel-square of Bergamo Alta was once more a stage of nature and beauty.
Acquarello by Cinzia Invernizzi, Project Landscape Corner, Piazza Pontida
The design theme of this edition was Pioneer Landscape, proposed by the Anglo-Italian landscape architect Luciano Giubbilei, an installation that transformed Piazza Vecchia into a space suspended halfway between city and nature, recalling the beauty of spontaneous vegetation. Luciano Giubbilei, three-times Best in Show award-winner at the Chelsea Flower Shop, is known throughout the world for the discrete elegance and serenity expressed by the gardens he designs.
Pedrali outdoor furniture collections decorated Piazza Vecchia, the heart of this landscaping event in Bergamo Alta: Tribeca chairs and armchairs and Nolita tables, designed by CMP Design, became the protagonists of the Green Square installation.
Getting design inspiration from the theme of Pioneer Landscape, the Green Design 2019 was staged in the most impressive sites of Città Alta including the ancient Lavatoio that, through the project Green Lounge – Pedrali at the Antico Lavatoio by Lucia Nusiner, turned into a convivial garden, where furniture and vegetation harmoniously blended with the surrounding environment creating unexpected garden scenarios. Visitors could sit on the comfortable Tribeca seatings by CMP Design, they could take a break from the daily hustle on Reva lounge armchairs by Patrick Jouin or immerse in the magic atmosphere thanks to the light of Giravolta and Happy Apple lamps designed by Basaglia Rota Nodari Architetti Associati studio.
Italian brand Pedrali participated in the Il Legno, dalla Natura alle Cose event which involved the main enterprises of the region intending to spread the culture of this natural material by presenting the exhibition Mettere Radici, il legno principio di un’economia sostenibile. Into the magnificent Sala delle Capriate at the Palazzo della Ragione in Upper Bergamo, reinterpreted by Basaglia Rota Nodari Architetti Associati studio, for the entire duration of I Maestri del Paesaggio, it exhibited a selection of products and projects aimed at showing the versatility and uniqueness of a renewable and sustainable raw material such as wood. Among the main protagonists of the exhibition, there were Héra, the armchair designed by Patrick Jouin presented at the Salone del Mobile.Milano 2019 and Soul, the armchair by Eugeni Quitllet.
Pedrali garden products also furnished other places at the festival in Bergamo. Elliot and Ikon tables, Tribeca sofas and Ara armchairs furnished the Landscape Corner inspired by the design installation Green Square in Piazza Vecchia and they were placed in Piazza Pontida, the Hotel Cappello D’Oro, Piazza Rossa and Piazza Sant’Anna in the Borgo Palazzo neighborhood.
CIAM Project: 21 st – 27th October 2019
On the 70th anniversary of the CIAM, the International Congress of Modern Architecture that in 1949 saw in Bergamo the presence of the world’s most influential architects, including Le Corbusier who defined Piazza Vecchia as “the most beautiful square in Europe”, the Orders of Architects of the province of Bergamo organises a series of multidisciplinary events addressed to the cure of human, the city and the landscape. Pedrali supports CIAM 2019 which will replicate that extraordinary experience, extending its value and involving all the institutions and representatives of the territory that promote the developing of society through cultural, economics and infrastructural renewal initiatives. It will propose the creation of a Second Life Grid in synergy with the ASL | Atlante Second Life, which will show the changes of the work of architects and urban planners following the transformation of urban but also of social, economic and politic conditions. The proposal, taking inspiration from the work done by Le Corbusier in 1949 and by the ASCORAL (French CIAM group), aims to simplify the critical comparison between projects and their realizations, to establish adequate ways to build and change the cities by starting a major system project that will have intellectual, procedural and regulatory developments in the following years.
