Have you ever dreamed of spending a weekend or a holiday in a charming country house? Archi-living.com brings you a design story about such a lovely interior design project by a Croatian interior designer Damir Ostarcevic from NIDUS – Prostor za mene (NIDUS – the Space for Me) brand. The designer himself tells us a story about creating the interior of this sweet holiday house in the Croatian countryside.
“This small holiday house is located in the Zagorje region of Croatia. Clients, the younger couple, wanted the interior space to be better organized and more comfortable. They needed an open space concept to be able to communicate with each other even when they are in different areas of the house (kitchen, dining room, living room). Also, if it’s raining, they can all stay inside and enjoy the view of the countryside through the window/garden door. The clients’ grandparents reside in the house most of the time.”
“We created a storage space by placing a sitting bench around the dining table and cabinets above the corner sofa. The dining room table is quite large and expandable because the clients enjoy family gatherings. The kitchen design incorporates a small bar that provides an extra worktop and also an additional seating and communication area. The kitchen is designed to be custom made from refined chipboard.”
“The TV is placed on the wall between the windows to make it visible equally from the living room seating area and the kitchen, as the TV needs to be seen while in the kitchen.”
“An installed stove should be moved from its current location, which requires the construction of an external chimney. This stove heats radiators in the rest of the house. The wall coverings around the stove and on the opposite wall are selected in natural stone decor to give a better impression of the country house.”
“Choosing colors was very simple because it is a small space (25 square meters), so we selected a color palette of natural tones with an emphasis on stone and wood. Through the textile part of the décor, we have introduced colorful patterns and diversity to the interior space, which has achieved playfulness and warmth.” says interior designer Damir Ostarcevic.
