Discover the GetLucky and Ruff “sister” designer armchairs, created by Spanish architect and designer Patricia Urquiola for the Italian brand Moroso.
The design of these creative armchairs experiments with binary geometry to combine their seat parts and backrests to great effect.
Dining Room Armchair
GetLucky armchair stands out for the simplicity of its forms. Designed as a small armchair for the dining room, its nature stands in its minimal shapes. A soft backrest wraps around the back like a ribbon before interweaving with the comfortable seat. Precise lines embody the grace of the sign and the elegance of shape.
Designer Lounge Chair for Contract and Hospitality Design Projects
Backrest and seat are geometric shapes, perfectly balanced – in the design story of GetLucky. This special dialogue between forms becomes solemn and sculptural in Ruff, the sister designer lounge chair. It is created for contract and hospitality design projects, for example, hotel lobbies or office reception areas. Also, it’s a great fit for any living room space, as it offers the ideal forum for a conversation.
The wide armrests lie on the sides of the seat section and wrap around it firmly, even though they have just one joint. The result is the harmonious combination between curved and straight lines – a simple geometry that creates an architectural interaction with the surrounding interior space. The Ruff armchair has a functional form, while its personality does not give up being a designer object that inhabits the interior space it is placed in.
Ruff armchair is an explicit tribute from the Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola to both her origins and to the art of Eduardo Chillida, the internationally renowned sculptor who lived in San Sebastián. Chillida’s designs, with their “high architectural vocation”, are in constant dialogue with the surrounding space.
“I can operate in many different fields, but the affinity with art, and the thing that all different forms of art have in common, is that they are forced to offer two components that can’t both be missing at the same time: poetry – you have to have poetry – and construction. Otherwise, you don’t get art,” wrote Eduardo Chillida.
