Interior designer Jackie Armour created a personality-filled family vacation home that’s as colorful, playful, and fun as it is stylish. Have a look.
Blue and Coral Color Palette for a Vacation Home Design in Loblolly
On a tight time schedule, Jackie Armour Interiors created a sophisticated, colorful Bermuda-style retreat in Loblolly, Florida, USA. Crisp fun colors put an energized spin on this 3,000-square-foot vacation home (with an additional 800-square-foot guest house, totaling four bedrooms and four bathrooms).
The owners are Northerners who love color and wanted a departure from their traditional residence. Jackie renovated this bright airy home with her love of the Palm Beach colors (which the client shared).
As you arrive at the home you are welcomed with double coral-colored doors.
As you enter the hallway and look up, the ceiling has a decorative wallpapered inset with the trim painted blue. The crisp white walls are the perfect contrast to the dark hardwood floors.
From the new kitchen to the living room custom cabinetry many hues of blue are blended, acknowledging the blue skies and oceans of South Florida.
The family room’s skylight features the blue sky with streaming natural light reflecting off the marble fireplace. Both the powder room and kitchen display blue patterned wallpapers and throughout the home are bold blue patterned draperies.
The client’s favorite statement piece (and Jackie’s favorite as well) is the bright orange coffee table centered in the living room.
All the art is from Onessimo fine art gallery in Palm Beach County. And the interior designer used Schumacher fabrics throughout this stylish vacation home.
Overall the shades of blue and coral are combined to reinvigorate this Hobe Sound renovation.
A Colorful Fun Home Design by Jackie Armour
Jackie Armour, founder, and principal interior designer for JMA Interior Design, is known for color. She won the 2022 LUXE Red Award for “Color.” She says, “I’m all about color and pattern on a personal level.” Her mantra is “The power of color lies in its ability to affect how we are feeling. Every color elicits an emotional response. It also changes our relationship to space, altering our senses and perceptions. I also believe that your color theme should be consistent and move throughout your home. It’s all in the details.”
Colors can be bucketed into two groups – they’re either warm or cool. And pairing colors with like temperatures always results in harmonious color combinations.
For example, pairing cool hues like blues and greens together always works well. Or pairing a mix of warm neutrals, such as a soft beige with a rich brown or a deep shade of orange, will be equally pleasing to the eye. And a white backdrop is a timeless classic.
The overall color theme for the coming year is about creating a home where we can relax, recharge and feel comfortable. And, pops of color are always a happy, fun welcome!
