Advent in Zagreb – the Historic City Center
Zagreb has many places to enjoy leisurely walks while sightseeing or socializing with friends. The historic city center is among the best places to see in Zagreb, especially during Advent – from the 2nd of December till the 7th of January. Ban Jelačić Square (Trg bana Jelačića), European Square (Europski trg), Petar Preradović Square (Trg Petra Preradovića), also known as Flower Square (Cvjetni trg), King Tomislav Square (Trg kralja Tomislava), Zrinjevac Park, Oktogon Passage, Ilica Street, and all the surrounding streets sparkle with holiday lights and creative decorations.
While strolling through the streets and squares of this lovely European city, I took many photos to show you the charm of Advent in Zagreb. Here are a few of them – in this photo story.
Let’s Meet at the Ban Jelačić Square
Whether you are going for a relaxing afternoon stroll or meeting friends for a night out, Ban Jelačić Square (Trg bana Jelačića) – the Main Square is one of the top meeting points among the locals. So, let’s meet at the square (nađimo se na trgu – in the Croatian language) and start this holiday photo sightseeing tour.
Baubles, stars, candy, bows, and traditional Zagreb ornament – the Licitar Heart (Licitarsko srce) ornate the Christmas Tree at the Main Square (also in the cover photo). A sparkling variety of colors, shapes, and patterns welcomes visitors throughout the square.
Sweet Zrinjevac Park
All year long, Zrinjevac Park sets the stage of natural beauty for all kinds of festive events. During the holiday season, Sweet Zrinjevac also becomes a place to find a gift for your loved ones.
