Discover a combination of the city’s charm and urban presence in the heart of Zagreb, Croatia. Approximately 200 square meters of a civic apartment has been converted into a contemporary communications agency office with a wonderful view of Strossmayer Square. Vibrant colors and graffiti art paint a colorful focal point of this creative office design.
IMC Agency Office Design Project, Led by Brigada
After more than two decades of successful business and residence in different office locations in the city, the IMC Agency was crowned by moving to a new office in the center of Zagreb, the capital city of Croatia. The 200-square-meter city apartment in Ulica Matice Hrvatske was converted into a contemporary office space with a wonderful view of Strossmayer Square. Brigada, Croatian most awarded agency for strategic interior design, led the entire design and decoration process.
“The key feature of the apartment, the enfilade, was preserved and adapted to the new function, and the preserved found parquet, after renovation, further emphasizes the authenticity and warmth of the interior. In order to modernize the space, strong contrasts were added between traditional elements, contemporary interventions, and found elements in the space. In this spirit, the existing typical suspended ceiling has been retained, which gives a dose of office atmosphere as a contrast to the more gentle residential atmosphere”, Damjan Geber from Brigada points out.
Vibrant Colors and Graffiti Art as Colorful Focal Point
As a contrast to the elements of the Lower-town apartment, such as walls with borders, graphic wallpapers, and works of art, the bare brick walls in key parts of the space are painted with street graffiti, which can be found on almost all the facades of Zagreb buildings. Such an intervention brings together the lifestyle of the street and creates a unique dialogue between the residential past and the urban presence of Zagreb. The graffiti on the walls was created by a professional street artist, the employees themselves, architects from Brigada, and clients visiting the communications agency.
As part of the project, a room to rest was designed for the employees, completely different from the rest of the space. This fun and unconventional room gives employees a place to relax, bringing creative energy to the everyday work environment. Special attention was paid to the integration of the identity of the IMC Agency into the space itself. The recognizable bright fuchsia color, a symbol of the agency, subtly runs through the interior in strategic places, giving the interior a special visual identity and recognition.
“Working in Such an Inspiring Space Encourages a Good Working Atmosphere and Creativity”
“As part of the strategy for further development of the agency’s business, we planned to move to the very center of the city, directly to the “hot spot” of events, where our partners and clients are closer to us. Live contact is very important to us, regardless of all the possibilities that technology offers us today. As our job is very dynamic, it is a special feeling to work in this wonderful part of the city that is full of life all year round. In addition, working in such an inspiring space, which perfectly balances modern and traditional, encourages a good working atmosphere and creativity, which is essential for our daily work. We are particularly pleased that our clients feel comfortable in it”, says Ankica Mamić from the IMC Agency.
