Solid Wood – the Ideal Material for Kitchens and Bathrooms

Until a few years ago, many bathrooms were places where ceramics dominated. Beautiful, but cold rooms started to go through transformations, especially in the use of materials. Wood, as a warm material, very pleasant to the touch, has become more and more wanted in designing bathrooms. Apart from creating a warm and inviting interior, solid wood furniture also partially regulates humidity in the room.

In humid rooms, such as bathrooms, the quality of furniture is particularly important. The shelves and closets should be waterproof, resistant to thermal impacts and easily maintained. After special treatment, solid wood can permanently endure high humidity and water steam, so coating it with wax or oil is not recommended.

Solid wood in the kitchen gives the impression of a warm and natural atmosphere. It is suitable for all kinds of kitchen elements, and also for tables and chairs. Wood in the kitchen is resistant, durable and easily cleaned. Solid wood worktops are also appreciated because of their simple maintenance. Wood has open pores and its natural acidity controls the quantity of bacteria, which is the reason why wooden surfaces are excellent for food preparation. Scientific researches have shown that bacteria responsible for digestive system diseases cannot survive on a wooden surface. Oils are a natural way of protecting wooden materials from humidity.

Solid wood kitchens can be designed in various styles, from rustic, classic, to minimalist ones. They offer excellent possibilities of combining with other elements in the space – doors, windows, chairs…
