A delicate and ethereal soap bubble that quivers in space filling it with white Scandinavian light: this is the image immediately evoked by Yoko, the new table lamp by Foscarini proposal for Euroluce 2013 and awarded by BO BEDRE MAGAZINE as the best lamp of the year.
Intangible and ethereal, simple and extremely refined: Yoko with the Norwegian designers Anderssen & Voll re-reading the archetype of the table lamp and the tip in a bold reversal typological, resting on a delicate volume luminaire made of transparencies.
The result is an intersection perfect, simple and light, inspired by the image of a bubble in tension that settles on the light source.
The essential Scandinavian style is emphasized by the choice of different colors, light and barely mentioned, recalling the northern light and tinged with reflections and shades mild upper body.
Yoko created and shaped through a long and careful research into form, developed through countless trials played on the edge of a millimeter, with great attention to the curvature of the lines. The technology, highly refined, plays a critical role but is hidden, concealed by the thin line and the perfect balance between the two volumes.
The development of the original concept, moved with great skill in an advanced process of industrialization – based on the technique of molding and blown on the choice of a material such as PMMA – has allowed us to create an object of immediate reading and strong personality.
The choice of the name, born from assonance of two syllables, similar but not identical, ideally emphasizes the dialogue between the two volumes of Yoko: “The name is composed of the assonance of two syllables similar but not identical, reflecting the dialogue between the two volumes that intersect to form the lamp. A perfect balance between light weight and simplicity”.
