Hungry for new things, impatient becoming old, tired of anonymity global product, with an equal dose of coherence and incoherence, rampant for years now the passion for vintage as everything that does not seem just out of its package.
Whether it is clothing that of furniture: next to the carpets worn jeans also show, on the new, the patina of time. The shoes are aged like furniture specially. And so on.
But it is not just nostalgia. The product mass of the past is embellished because it turns into ‘unique‘ and is synonymous with authenticity. Exhibit impeccable home declined in the contemporary becomes antiquated. With and without the obvious differences , everything is collected under the umbrella – word vintage and increases the dear old shabby chic style and that of the mix of things anonymous and signed , opening up attractive economic channels .
The Museum für Gestaltung in Zurich and its curator Karin Gimmi, with the exhibition Vintage. Design with a History explores all the nuances of this passion, focusing also on what really is true vintage, thanks to his years, or because it has contributed to the tendency to feel like old and used. Drawing on decades 70-80-90, also crosses the answer copyright of recycling and consumerism that has disproved the proverbial seasonality of fashion. So the patina of time is the added value to show off with pride.
