Tips for the care of wooden furniture

In order to preserve the quality of wooden furniture, it is necessary to maintain it in the right way. Solid wood surfaces are susceptible to scratches and shock, as well as moisture. Proper maintenance of this kind of furniture ensures that it will keep its beauty and appearance for a long time.

Gentle rubbing of surfaces with a dry or slightly damp soft cloth is recommended for everyday maintenance. Any leftover wet spots should be wiped off with a dry cloth. Wash the dirty furniture parts with a mildly wet sponge and neutral soap.

Then, dry everything thoroughly. Furniture that is treated with wax or oil should be maintained with agents obtained from authorized suppliers of these products, using a soft cloth. Microfiber cloths are not recommended when using oil. One should avoid cleaning agents that are not recommended by the manufacturer of furniture, as they often contain solvents that can damage the surface of the furniture, so it is necessary to read the instructions provided by the manufacturer.

Damage to unpainted furniture can be fixed by a layman. After sanding, it is important to apply the protective layer in the direction of the wood grain. Wood will recover its original splendor. These kinds of procedures are common on the legs of chairs.

Selecting the surface treatment of wooden furniture will greatly affect the convenience of its maintenance. Oil treatment allows the oil to penetrate into the surface of the wood and leave its pores open. This kind of treatment allows the wood to absorb the excess moisture and assist in creating microclimate conditions. Paint permanently closes the surface of wood and reduces its breathability, but it makes it more resistant to external influences. It is recommended for people with small children and pets, and those who have less free time.
