Interior decorating during Christmas and New Year is an opportunity to give vent to your creativity. Christmas tree decorations, holiday table ideas… Discover the interior designer’s ideas.
The winter holiday season is nearing and with it the festive and fairy-tale mood, in which light and luxurious decor bring glitter, which turns your home into a palace.
No matter if you prefer the sophistication of classic styles or sheer elegance of modern design – interior decoration during Christmas and New Year is an opportunity to give vent to your creativity. Rich fabrics, gold and silver ornaments, the art of table decoration, festive motifs – bring a holiday metamorphosis of space.
Christmas Wreath
Christmas wreath, for example, with golden bells, welcomes guests already at the front door and says that this home is ruled by the cheerful Christmas spirit.
Holiday Color Palette
Small red decorative pillows combined with a blanket in similar colors will “pick up” the sofa and visually warm up the whole living room. Also, it is believed that the presence of red color during New Year’s celebrations brings happiness and success throughout the year. This primary color is largely represented in the clothing of the popular Santa Claus whose character entertains us through various decorative shapes – pillows, dolls and figurines, candles, Christmas tree ornaments. Besides the likable Santa, from the far North comes the snowman into our homes, and with it the refreshing effect of white (non)color which is the excellent counterbalance to the fiery red.
With white-red and the complementary red-green color scheme, the festive “touch” to the interior is brought by the gold-silver, green-gold, red-gold, red-silver colors, as well as other combinations with the colors of precious metals. Namely, gold and silver-plated ornaments sparkle due to the reflection of light, which makes the room more luxurious, which is contributed by tablecloths made of velvet, satin, brocade, organza, damask, and other luxurious fabrics.
Festive Holiday Table Ideas
Decorating the holiday table is very important, because the dining room is the central place for socializing during this festive time of year when all gourmets come into their own, and the only thing richer than the gold ornaments are the culinary delights.
The design scheme begins with a tablecloth and tablecloth toppers which are often made of shiny fabrics and decorated with dominant motifs, for example, stylized flowers. If you want to emphasize the tablecloth, it is recommended to select single color plates. Of course, monochrome does not necessarily mean simple, since the relief texture and unusual shapes have a significant impact on the visibility of the dishes.
Festive cutlery in matte or gloss variations, as well as wine and champagne glasses, are required ingredients of any holiday table. Decorative napkins can be arranged in a variety of forms, such as flowers, leafs, ties – or decorated with metal and crystal jewelry, and even Christmas tree decorations.
Centerpiece Decoration for Holiday Table
The central table decoration can be in the form of
– the arrangement of pine cones and twigs
– golden angels
– large, embossed candles on a mirror base and beads
– the possibilities are truly endless.
In order to highlight the beauty of decorations, it is advisable to set them on a contrasting background – for example, a golden ornament on a green tablecloth.
All in all, the holiday season brings luster, splendor – and most importantly, happiness to our homes.
