Bathrooms: temples for mind and body

The International Bathroom Exhibition – at the Rho Milan Fairgrounds from 8th  to 13th April – will be back with an even greater and more extensive range of goods. This year for the first time pavilions 22 and 24 will be entirely given over to the Italian and foreign companies in the vanguard of the sector.

This will be the 5th edition of the biennial bathroom exhibition in its own right, although it has been part of the Salone del Mobile machine since 2003.

Having started with 43 exhibiting companies ranged over a total area of 2,346 square metres, there will be no less than 184 exhibitors taking up over 18,000 square metres inside pavilions 22-24 this year.

Because of the increased exhibition space (+20% on 2012), the international bathroom furnishing and accessories exhibition has been able to accept the ever-increasing number of exhibitor applications and to build up the quality of the exhibition spaces.

The International Bathroom Exhibition – only exhibitions conspicuous  by their excellent quality, drawing in a high percentage of foreign visitors, are designated  “International” by the Lombard Region – is the sectoral benchmark  thanks to the huge array of goods and the quality of the products on exhibit. These range from bathroom accessories and furniture to shower cubicles and saunas, sanitary ware, radiators, coverings, bathroom and kitchen taps, bath and hydromassage tubs, with particular focus on natural products used for accessories and for coverings.

Bathrooms have lost the strictly functional and marginal status to which they were relegated until just a few years ago, and have come into their own as an absolutely central part of the home. In today’s bathrooms, craftsmanship and technology work hand in hand with tradition and nature; we are now light years away from the spartan, basic room of just a few decades ago.

The export data for the period January to August 2013 back up the importance of the bathroom sector. Exports of Italian bathroom furniture rose significantly in several foreign markets, compared with the same period the previous year: China (+32,7%), South Korea (+24,6%), Russia (+17,9%), Turkey (+17,1%), Sweden (+11,8%) and Australia (+10,7%).

The prestige of this biennial exhibition is also underscored by the return of several leading companies, including Gessi and Sicis and the many new entrants, such as Florim, Geberit, Graff, Kartell by Laufen and Santagostino.

New for this year is the revised layout inside pavilions 22-24, with three relaxation areas complete with WiFi, providing ample space to work or eat “Italian style.”

In full synergy with EuroCucina and the collateral FTK (Technology For the Kitchen) exhibition, in the pavilions opposite, the International Bathroom Exhibition is an unmissable appointment for fans of wellbeing, technological and design innovation and product research.
